Approximately 70 self-taught transgressive drawings by self-taught Approximately 70 transgressive drawings by self-taught artist, Pablo Pagan (aka Paul Pagan) were found in Brooklyn, NY earlier this year.  Each piece in the body of work depict grotesque human-animal hybrids, often with themes of perverseness, body horror & self-mutilation.

Little is know about Pablo Pagan, (who also went by Paul Pagan). It is assumed that he immigrated from Puerto Rico to New York City in the mid 20th century.

This drawing comes from the only know collection of Pagan’s work, which were all made around the year 1949. They belonged to a woman who owned them for many years after inheriting them from her mother that had initially purchased them collection from the artist’s wife.
